To the seasoned sales professional,
I suspect you’ve achieved meaningful success, and perhaps, a degree of financial security. While that is certainly an accomplishment to celebrate, so often our initial success is accompanied with a false sense of complacency. Do you still have that “relentless” enthusiasm that got you here? The stamina? The grit? Is your career in a good place (maybe really good), but no longer great? Trust me when I say, being “good” is not your legacy. That was my story.
To the up-and-comer,
If you’re reading this, you’re likely a person of great drive, and are more than likely, highly motivated by money (I love you already). The truth is you’ll likely achieve a meaningful level of success through those traits alone. In fact, in the beginning, I did not read a single sales or professional development book. I went my own way and learned everything the hard way. The only way I knew to get what I want was to push (“till the walls came down”, a colleague once told me). It was exhausting, and quite frankly, stupid. I wish someone would have tackled me. My production eventually plateaued, and I was soon being outperformed by once “average” producers who were now students of various coaching platforms. It was embarrassing.
You can only take yourself so far. You need to learn how to ignore “doom and gloom” thinking (and thinkers), and surround yourself with other successful people (who also want to grow both personally and professionally). You’re going to learn systems, leadership, how to delegate (you’ll no longer be a slave to email), how to lead your client (my favorite), and I will give you the tools and resources to implement a consistent, simple, and predictable customer experience! You’ll receive referrals based upon your reputation, as a “professional”, “the best” (imagine how it felt to hear several Realtors say, “I send my higher-end clients to Chris”). Never pay for leads, 30% of my referrals come from realtors who have a different lender paying for their internet leads.
I have a history of developing new, average, and underperforming sales professionals to reach the top 10%! I’ve held executive leadership positions, managed dozens of loan officers, coached both realtors and loan officers, and developed new markets. All while continuing to produce (never stop writing your own business)! But, above all, developing leaders is my passion, I love it! Watching my partners succeed is more rewarding then experiencing my own.
